The Environmental Education and Community Outreach, the ACLA-P has a team that has been organized in recent years in order to follow up on some of the actions proposed in the Strategy of Community Development.

Each subregion has a staff and many other functions are educators and extension of the canton and they who directly assume the planned work in this field. There is a program coordinator who, like others, is charged with other duties and responsibilities do not own the program, due to staff shortages.
 
 
The program operates through a work plan, and bi-monthly meetings, which follows up the business plan, trying to assess the progress and obstacles held. Eventually participate in meetings of representatives of other nongovernmental organizations that perform actions in this field, which aims to team up with these entities.
 
Priority areas of work are the communities located in the buffer zone of National Park Tapantí Massif de la Muerte, Chirripo National Park, La Amistad International Park and Protected Area Las Tablas.
 
Action Lines:
Promote the participation of community groups in the protection and rational use of natural resources. 
  • Assist in management, promotion and implementation of sustainable development projects in priority communities neighboring the ACLA-P.
  • Strengthen disclosure processes related to the specific problems of ACLA-P.
  • Strengthening campaigns to prevent and combat forest fires in and outside the protected areas.
  • Build institutional cooperation mechanisms that facilitate the development of education and outreach strategy of the ACLA-P.
  • Develop and strengthen the awareness and knowledge about nature in populations mainly children and encourage their critical attitudes about the use and conservation of natural resources.
  • Develop services to the public through Specific infrastructure improvements within the ACLA-P.
  • Promote self-management of grassroots organizations in the region of influence of ACLA-P.
