Biological corridors are limited geographic areas that constitute a continuous landscape between ecosystems and natural habitats or modified, which assist in maintaining biodiversity and ecological and evolutionary processes, using the connectivity between natural areas and areas modified by humans, whose purpose may be the preservation or restoration of a specific area such as a water ecosystem or to improve the viability of a wild species.
 
Biological Corridors Program was established as a tool or strategy for the conservation of biodiversity, mitigating such rapid processes of deforestation, forest fires, illegal logging, fragmentation of our forests - ecosystem and infrastructure practices unsustainability levels produced by Man.
 
Objetive:
 
Promoting environmental awareness through biological corridors to ensure the sustainability of natural resources through the establishment and strengthening of regional and local.
 
Program Description:
 
Corridors Program has a coordinator at the Conservation Area, with links to their respective level of each of the subregions of Pérez Zeledón, Buenos Aires and Coto Brus.
 
ACLA-P currently has several corridors in a consolidation process that is the CB's Alexander Skutch (Quizarrá) in Pérez Zeledón, Sources of Life La Amistad (Biolley), El Quetzal Three Hill (Potrero Grande), Rio Cañas (Santa María de Brunka) and Fila Langusina (Changuenas) in Buenos Aires of Puntarenas.
 
Each Corridor has a local management committee, usually have bi-monthly meetings, has a plan and a board.
 
The focus of work has been given to biological corridors is related to the protection of water resources, an essential element of any development activity, the sustainable production / organic, environmental education and conservation of biodiversity.
